{:ru}New Business Jet Programs

Honda Jet и Honda Jet Elite

As we reach the bottom of the curve, and financing starts to become readily available again, the smartest of the business jet manufacturers already have their newest, most fuel efficient models in pre production or certification ready to take customers deposits.

The top end of the market is well represented, with Gulfstream’s much anticipated follow up from the 400+ selling G550, the G650, entering into the final stages of certification, ready for customer deliveries to begin later this year. Not to be out done, Bombardier announced the follow ups to the Global Express range, with both the Global 7000 and Global 8000 having range predictions that will take the farther than the G650. Both aircraft are still in the design phase, with the Global 7000 expected to enter into service in 2016, and the Global 8000 in 2017.

One manufacturer whose product development department have been particularly busy is Cessna, who added 4 new aircraft to their range over a 12 month period. Of these the Latitude and the Longitude stand out the most, not only because they are brand new aircraft, rather than upgrades of previous aircraft, or a cross between 2 others, but for the Latitude the decision to ‘manufacture’ some aircraft in China is eye opening. The Longitude on the other hand marks the first time a Citation aircraft has had the legs to go farther than 3,500nm, so the Cessna brand and 4,000nm range is sure to make it a success.

There are of course some unknowns, and researching some of the information has been problematic. Bombardier for example treat some details of the Global 7000 and Global 8000 developments as confidential, and it’s understandable that all of the manufacturers are a little cagey when discussing order backlogs.

There are some notable omissions from the list, and all these aircraft are at the lower end of the scale. However, as more time and more details become available then the list will be expanded, and more types will be covered. It should be noted as well that the internet is rife with rumour about certain types that have yet to be officially launched, so several cases it’s difficult to separate fact from speculation.

One aircraft that is included even though few details are known is the Dassault Falcon SMS. Not a lot is known about the SMS yet, all we know is that it’s going to be a twin jet with fly-by-wire controls, larger than the current Falcon 2000 and it’s going to be certified in 2016.

So the intention is for this post to be a one-stop reference for all new aircraft, where you can check on the new programs and thier progress. Updates to the post will be done as soon as new information is known, with updates to the post being be pushed out via Twitter and Google+.
